GM School
GM School was something I organised at Coffee & Dice (the board game café I used to run) to help encourage new Games Masters.
In June 2018 I managed to convince some amazing GMs with different viewpoints, experiences and styles who I'm lucky enough to call friends to join me in sharing their experiences.
Our hope was to help new Games Masters avoid the countless errors we've made, get to some of the good moments we've had, and generally enjoy and be enthused to run games in the future.
The audio files from the introductory evening are linked below. There's some great stuff in here - apologies for the background noise it was recorded in the café.
Part 1 features an introduction to the GMs, an overview of what a Role Playing Game is and a Games Master's role. We go on to discuss various aspects of planning to run a game including; plot, timing, dice rolls, props and resources.
Part 2 includes the discussion of table management, from lines and veils to difficult players and spotlight vs balance.
Part 3 is the Q&A from the discussion and sees our GMs wander across a number of issues including their worst moments.
